The Shinwakai is the primary adult men’s organization that provides support for various temple activities.
The main temple events the Shinwakai sponsor is the Gotan-E service and temple bon dance.
Kona Hongwanji is the home to Troop 59 of the Big Island Boy Scouts. Here, they do various community activities, as well as host services at the temple and an annual camping trip at Camp Honokaia.
Meetings are Mondays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Extended days Wednesdays & Thursdays at 5:00 pm to 6:00pm.
Pack #12 accepting boys and girls between Kindergarten and 5th grade.

Kona Hongwanji hosts their own Judo Club, an award winning group that plays host to many experienced and veteran practitioners of the sport.
The Jr. YBA or Junioir Young Buddhist Association is the youth group of the Hongwanji (8th grade to first year college), they are the future of the Hongwanji. They participate and organize various events and services throughout the year, including the annual convention that gathers groups and members from all over the state.
